Privacy Policy — Lacq by Variously

Lacq by Variously ("Lacq", "we", "us") is a nail-art discovery app published by Variously. This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and your choices. Questions: privacy@variously.nl.

We do not require an account. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or payment details, and we do not show ads or sell your data.

What we collect and why

1. Anonymous device identifier

When you first open the app it generates a random identifier stored on your device. It is not linked to your name, email, or any real-world identity. We use it to remember which looks you liked and to personalise your "For You" feed.

2. In-app activity

We record which looks you view, open, and like, with a timestamp, linked only to the anonymous identifier above. This powers your personalised recommendations and the worldwide like counts shown on looks.

3. Location (only with your permission)

If you use the Salon Finder and grant location permission, your device location is sent to our server to look up nail salons near you via Google Maps Platform. We use it only to answer that request and do not store it. You can instead type a city or area, in which case no device location is used.

4. Photos (only when you choose one)

• Color Match: if you pick a photo to match nail colours to an outfit, that image is sent to our server, analysed for its colours, and deleted immediately after analysis. It is not stored or shared.
• Saving a look: when you save a look image to your gallery, it is written to your photo library locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

Third parties

Google Maps Platform receives your location or search text to return nearby salons. Catalog look images are AI-generated and analysed by us for colour/labelling; this does not involve your photos beyond the transient Color Match image described above.

Data sharing

We only share the location or search text you provide with Google Maps Platform to fulfil salon searches. We do not otherwise share your data.

Data retention

• The anonymous identifier is stored on your device; clearing app data or uninstalling removes it.
• In-app activity is retained to power recommendations and like counts.
• Location is used per request and not retained. Color Match images are deleted immediately after processing.

Security

Traffic between the app and our server uses HTTPS.

Children

Lacq is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Your choices

• Deny or revoke location permission; the Salon Finder still works by typing a city.
• Deny photo access; Color Match and saving looks are then unavailable, but the rest of the app works.
• Clear the app's data to remove the anonymous identifier and local favourites.

Changes

We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly.
